What's Hot at the Movies This Week
Visions of Europe is a collection of twelve episodes of Visions series, originally aired on Public Television and previously released in a ten disc boxed set in October of 2009. This collection includes the cities and countryside in places such as; Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Greece, and many Great Cities in the rest of Europe. The filming was done on helicopter mounted high-definition cameras. The result is some of the most beautiful looks at Europe that can be seen without leaving your home. The aerial views are amazing, giving you glimpses of the popular destinations that cannot be seen from the ground. Whether highlighting the vast untouched natural destinations, such as mountain ranges, lakes, and rivers, or the cities that are mixtures of old and new architecture, the episodes give breathtaking views. Even if you have been to some of the destinations, you will love to see them from the air. It gives the landscape a whole new look.
The beautiful visuals are put against a background of music and narration. The music in each episode has music from the region in which it is filmed. This gives a different feel to each of the episodes. Along with the music, the narration adds to the appeal of the series. The narration is done in such a way that is informative but not overwhelming. It does not bombard you with constant facts but instead gives you ample time to enjoy the scenery adding information when appropriate. One of the features of the Visions of Europe Blu-ray is that you may choose to watch each episode accompanied by music and narration or simply the music. This option allows for varied ways to view the series, either as an informative look at beautiful and popular European destinations or as just a relaxing romp through the European countryside.
Visions of Europe includes twelve episodes on six discs, filmed in high definition. The episodes included are: “Visions of Italy: Northern Style”, “Visions of Italy: Southern Style”, “Visions of Sicily”, “Visions of Italy: The Great Cities”, “Visions of France: Provence”, “Visions of France: The Riviera”, Visions of Greece”, “Visions of Greece: Off the Beaten Path”, “Visions of Austria”, “Visions of the Great Cities of Europe”, “Visions of Germany: Bavaria”, and “Visions of Germany: Along the Rhine”.
