In A Mind To Kill, Series 3, noted actor Philip Madoc returns to the role of Detective Chief Inspector Noel Bain, who looks back nostalgically to the days when policing involved chasing villains, playing rugby and drinking Guinness, but has come to recognize that contemporary policing imposes dilemmas that no training manual could ever contemplate.
Bain is a widower and has a tempestuous relationship with his daughter, Hannah Bain, (Ffion Wilkins) who, despite resenting the lack of time her father spent with the family because of police work, becomes a WPC on the same police force. DCI Bain’s close friendship with police pathologist Prof. Margaret Edwards (Sharon Morgan) remains enigmatic as he fears treading the same path that caused so many problems for his family. Joining the regulars in the last series were Bryn Fon, Ieuan Rhys, Huw Llyr and Elen Bowman.
This DVD set includes 8 feature length mysteries filled with complex plots and strongly drawn characters. A Mind To Kill aired on TV in the U.K. in the mid 1990’s and it was available with both English and Welsh language but it is now for the first time in the U.S. available on DVD.
This series begins with DCI Noel Bain returning to work after taking a leave of absence. He returns to find there have been a lot of changes while he was away. His old team has been disbanded, making him feel like an anachronism in the penny-pinching new department. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he finds that his own daughter has decided to join the force. This turns out to be a blessing in disguise as she does get him back on track in solving crimes with instinct intelligence and a passion for defending the innocent.
The 8 episodes included in this DVD set are:
1. Shadow Falls
A Mind To Kill is a 4-Disc DVD set that runs for a total of approximately 776 minutes. Bonus Features include The Women of A Mind To Kill, notes from Ffion Wilkins, Sharon Morgan and Gillian Elisa. It should be noted that this DVD set does contain nudity and some graphic scenes.
