In Defense of Heath Ledger: Lou Lumenick Is an ‘F’-ing Toolbox

ToolboxLou Lumenick is a f******* toolbox. Lou Lumenick, by the way, is the chief film critic for the New York Post. If his goal was to get people to hate him and to be thought of as a big piece of dogshit, then ‘mission accomplished.’

Wow. Wow.

To read the article I am talking about, here’s the link.

Every once in a great while, you will read something that is so idiotic, so ridiculous, it leaves you scratching your head in wonderment. This however, sets the bar on idiocy. It is by far the dumbest, most insensitive piece of “journalism” I have ever read. The anger I had after reading this is beyond words. The person responsible should be punished.

After the shocking and tragic death of Heath Ledger yesterday, New York Post film critic Lou Lumenick wrote a little blurb about him. In the short article, Lumenick hints that because they crossed paths once in a short interview, he somehow knew the guy. This makes little sense. One cannot know a person after a single encounter.

Lumenick states, “It’s always a tragedy when a 28-year-old dies, but I wasn’t totally surprised. He spent the last decade throwing away opportunities any young actor would die for.” How can a lame ass film critic like Lumenick make such idiotic statements? What is he basing his thoughts on? A single encounter.

So Lou wasn’t surprised at Heath’s death because during their only interview ever, Heath was hung over. Oh, and he didn’t show up to one award ceremony to collect an award (the ceremony happened to be the New York Film Critics Circle). How can a professional journalist make such irresponsible and insensitive remarks the day of someone’s death?

Lou remind me the day one of your family members die so I can write about how when I met them once, I thought I knew them, so I can say in my column, “I saw it coming.” He makes the article not about the death of a person, but about himself. A reaction piece.

Lumenick closes his article with the mind boggling line “Ledger’s death leaves a big marketing problem for Warner Bros., since Ledger plays the Joker in one of their biggest summer releases, The Dark Knight. Is this really the type of statement a journalist should make the same day someone dies? Does he not value human life? This is a person that had friends and a family. Lou, you are a piece of shit film critic, why on earth would you write something as ridiculous as that statement?

How tough do you feel trashing someone who not only can’t defend himself, but is dead? Yeah, the worry should be placed with the marketing problems that Warner Bros. has and not his family and two year old daughter he left behind. Lou, you are the definition of a coward and a douche-bag. You just don’t trash a person the day he dies. Show some respect.
