Bible Secrets Revealed

| March 5, 2014 | 0 Comments

The Bible is by far the most popular book of all time.  There are several different versions of the Bible and Lionsgate brings you a History Channel six hour mini-series, Bible Secrets Revealed, to explore the mysteries behind the great book.

Some of the questions the episodes address are: “Is the Bible history or myth?” “Who wrote it?” “How has it been altered over the years?”  Scholars, archaeologists and religious leaders profoundly aim to address these issues throughout the episodes.

As a member of the Christian faith, I found this miniseries to be very insightful and inspiring.  I have always thought that the Bible was the word of God, but with man transcribing it, there was a significant chance for things to be lost in translation.  I’ve personally never researched it, but Bible Secrets Revealed breaks it all down for viewers in six episodes.

In the beginning of time, the Bible was not available in the multitude of languages it is today.  The early followers saw the book as religious with political power.  The Romans had power over the book.  It was considered a high crime for translating the book.  Many were killed for attempting to translate it to a more widespread language.  Eventually, the King’s saw there was a power in the translations.  Entire books were removed and sometimes stories were added.

In addition to entire additions and omissions, mistranslations plagued the Bible.  In different languages, words have different meanings.  In Hebrew, what means “young woman” means “virgin” when translated to Greek, raising questions as to whether or not Mary was actually a virgin when she had Jesus.

The stories of David and Goliath, Adam and Eve, Mary Magdalene, Jesus and the adulterous woman and Noah and the flood, according to the scholars and archaeologists, might not have actually happened the way we know of them.  In David and Goliath, David might not have been the one to actually kill Goliath.  The story about the adulterous woman was added to the King James Bible, but not found anywhere in the oldest scriptures found.  There were many gospels not included at all in what we know today but they were included in the Gnostic Gospels.  Included in those gospels, there are stories of Adam and Eve, Mary Magdalene and Noah and the great flood.  The real God might have been hidden from us all along.

If you want to know all the details, which I assure you that you do, Bible Secrets Revealed is available on DVD March 14, 2014.  Regardless of your religious preference, if you have an open mind, this miniseries is a must see.
