Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick) has another murder on her hands, a contractor found shot to death off his roof. There are way too many suspects with the victim having multiple affairs with the wives of seemingly everyone he knew, including friends and employees. At the time of his murder, he was sleeping with the woman he was currently having an affair with, yet somehow she didn’t even notice that he was missing or dead. This isn’t the only thing Brenda has to contend with, though. In addition to all this, the Major Crimes Unit has moved to new facilities, a new high tech building with state-of-the-art everything including a two-way mirror in the interview room and caller ID, things that are very surprising that the old facility didn’t have. Brenda happens to be one that isn’t very happy with change, though, and she blames the facility when her investigation isn’t going the way it’s supposed to. Much of the humor in the episode comes from the facility change and the move, but the removal of the dead body is also probably one of the funnier ones I’ve ever seen. Leave it to Lt. Provenza (G. W. Bailey) to somehow botch that up. Also throughout is the banter between Brenda and Assistant Chief Pope (J. K. Simmons) as they argue the merits of the move to the new facility. At the end, there’s an announcement that makes Brenda and the others realize just why he was pushing the move so much. Catch the season premiere of The Closer on TNT on July 12. The Closer is back for another season, and once again it’s filled with the usual humor. That’s always a trademark of The Closer and Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson’s investigating. No matter how much she wants to stay to task, there’s always enough things going wrong around her, and her Southern humor just can’t do enough to cover it up.
