ID releases schedule for Tribeca Film Festival Screenings

ID just announced their public screenings of the following movies: Death of a Superhero; The Fourth Dimension; The Giant Mechanical Man; Knife Fight; Revenue for Jolly, Side By Side, Sleepless Night; and Struck By Lightning.

Synopses for the movies and screening dates are as follows:

Death of a Superhero is part of the Viewpoints series, and features Director: Ian FitzGibbon; Producers: Astrid Kahmke, Philipp Kreuzer, Michael Garland; Cast: Andy Serkis, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Aisling Loftus, Michael McElhatton, Sharon Horgan, Jessica Schwarz ; Running Time is 94 minutes.

Donald is a teenager with extraordinary artistic talents. His future as a graphic novel artist should be bright. As his life is consumed by fantastic daydreams, Donald soon discovers that a very real enemy is trying to kill him. With an unorthodox psychologist teaching Donald to find the light in life in an otherwise dark world, Death of a Superhero tells the story of discovering life, love, and death in this exceptionally honest portrayal of a teenage boy facing his own mortality.

Based on the novel by internationally acclaimed author Anthony McCarten, Death of a Superhero stars Andy Serkis (The Rise of the Planet of the Apes; The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love, Actually; Nowhere Boy; Bright Star) and Michael McElhatton (Albert Nobbs).
Tribeca Films: Available nationwide on VOD beginning April 17. Opening May 4 in Seattle theaters.

The Fourth Dimension is also part of the Viewpoints series and features Directors: Harmony Korine, Alexey Fedorchenko, Jan Kwiecinski; Producers: Priya Swaminathan, Matt Elek, Michael Derkits, Charles-Marie Anthonioz, Michal Kwiecinski; with cast Val Kilmer, Igor Sergeev, Darya Ekamasova, Tomasz Tyndyk; Running Time is 106 minutes. New York Premiere.

A motivational speaker named Val Kilmer (played by Val Kilmer) delivers a sermon at a roller rink. A Russian scientist builds a time machine in his apartment. Four friends stumble upon an abandoned village in the Polish countryside. All are in search of the fourth dimension—whether they know it or not. Together, Grolsch Film Works and VICE Films present The Fourth Dimension, a film that gives us a glimpse of enlightenment through the eyes of three one‐of‐a‐kind characters. Weird, ominous, cool, compelling: these three short films could only be inspired by the creative vision of Harmony Korine and VICE’s Eddy Moretti.

The Giant Mechanical Man is part of the Spotlight series, with Director: Lee Kirk; Producers: Molly Hassell, Jenna Fischer, Michael Nardelli; Editor: Robert Komatsu; and Cast: Bob Odenkirk, Chris Messina, Jenna Fischer, Lucy Punch, Malin Akerman, Rich Sommer, Topher Grace. Running Time is 94 minutes. World Premiere.

The Giant Mechanical Man is a charming comedic romance between Janice (Jenna Fischer), a woman in her 30’s who has yet to learn how to navigate adulthood, and Tim (Chris Messina), a devoted street performer who finds that his unique talents as a “living statue” don’t exactly pay the bills. Out of work and crashing with her overbearing sister (Malin Akerman), Janice is on the receiving end of well-intentioned but misguided pressure to date an egotistical self-help guru (Topher Grace). Everyone seems to know what’s best for Janice, but Tim helps her find her own voice and realize that it only takes one person to make you feel important.

Rob Lowe is Paul Turner, a maverick political strategist struggling to keep his wayward clients—including a philandering Kentucky governor and a California senator being blackmailed—in office and out of the scandal sheets. This tightly wound dramatic satire from two-time Oscar-winning director and TFF alum Bill Guttentag (Nanking) shows us what our political leaders are really made of. With Julie Bowen, Eric McCormack, Jennifer Morrison and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Revenge for Jolly is part of the (Cinemania) series, with Director: Chadd Harbold; Producers: William Green, Aaron Ginsburg, Brian Petsos and Cast: Brian Petsos, Oscar Isaac, Elijah Wood, Kristen Wiig, Adam Brody, Ryan Phillippe. Running Time is 85 minutes.
World Premiere.

Harry (Brian Petsos) will stop at nothing to avenge the death of his beloved dog, Jolly. He and his demented cousin Cecil (Oscar Isaac) follow a series of clues in a frenzied attempt to track down the dog’s murderer, leaving a path of destruction in their wake. Elijah Wood, Kristen Wiig, Adam Brody, Ryan Phillippe, Gillian Jacobs, Bobby Moynihan, Kevin Corrigan, David Rasche, Amy Siemetz, and Garret Dillahunt all stand between Harry and revenge for Jolly.

Running Time is 103 minutes. New York Premiere. In French with English subtitles.

Sleepless Night tells the story of Vincent, a respected and dedicated police officer – or so it seems. After he and a colleague are recognized while stealing a massive bag of cocaine from drug dealers employed by local mob boss Marciano, Vincent quickly finds himself trapped in a situation that no parent would envy: his son has been kidnapped with the promise of execution if he doesn’t immediately deliver the bag back to its rightful owner.

Vincent heads to Marciano’s nightclub on the outskirts of Paris to make the swap, but competing interests and misplaced loyalties soon threaten to complicate the exchange. The ensuing game of cat-and-mouse quickly spirals into madness, sprawling across every seedy back room and pulsating, claustrophobic inch of the crowded dance floor. With enemies on all sides and time working against him, the night to come might not only be the longest but also the last of Vincent and his young son’s life.

Struck By Lightning is part of the Spotlight series; with Director: Brian Dannelly; Writer: Chris Colfer; Producers: David Permut, Roberto Aguire, Mia Chang; Executive Producers: Jason Berman, Chris Colfer, Glenn Rigberg, Lawrence Kopeikin; Co-Producers: Monica Aguirre Diez Barroso, Steve Longi, Mark Moran and Cast: Chris Colfer, Allison Janney, Dermot Mulroney, Christina Hendricks, Sarah Hyland, Rebel Wilson. Running Time is 90 minutes. World Premiere.

In the close-minded town of Clover, outspoken high school senior Carson Phillips is tragically killed when struck by lightning. In a series of flashbacks, Carson quips about his own funeral and recounts the last weeks of his life; running the writers’ club, dealing with his alcoholic mother, and caring for his Alzheimer’s stricken grandmother. With his eyes set on the college of his dreams, Carson will do anything to get accepted. He devises a scheme to better his odds by creating a school literary magazine filled with works by popular students, who Carson has blackmailed into participating. Ironically, he winds up inspiring his classmates, learning that life is what happens when you’re busy planning your future, and that we should all embrace each day like it’s our last.
