NU IMAGE, INC./MILLENNIUM FILMS

STORMS TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

TORONTO, ON — Armed with a full slate of NEW titles Nu Image, Inc./Millennium Films has arrived at TIFF ready to sell. Buyer anticipation is high for films like Expendables 2, the follow up to their $274 million worldwide boxoffice hit starring Sylvester Stallone. E2, directed by Simon West, begins production mid-September at Nu Image’s Nu Boyana studios in Sofia. Casting is being finalized on the Lionsgate co-production. “Everyone is eager to get started on this film, and our distributors are eager as well. The first one was a success for all,” exclaims Nu Image, Inc./Millennium Films’ Avi Lerner. “TIFF this year is looking very good for us and our films.”

Millennium Film’s $5 million dramedy Straight A’s; staring Anna Paquin, Ryan Phillippe, Luke Wilson, Christa Campbell and directed by James Cox; is also being offered at TIFF and buyer interest is high. Production just wrapped at Nu Image’s Millennium Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana. Producing the David Cole script were Holly Weirsma, Scoot McNairy, Rene Besson and John Pierce. Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson, Lati Grobman and Jamie Adamic exec produced. States Weirsma “I had a great time making this film. The story is about all relationships, family and friends, and this cast and crew became a family, relationships and all. Plus producing for Avi and Millennium is always a blast.”

Nicolas Cage and director Joel Schumacher will be on hand for TIFF’s Gala Presentation of Trespass on September 14th at Roy Thompson Hall. Nicole Kidman co-stars. In Trespass, an intense thriller, a seemingly straightforward home invasion evolves into something far more complicated. Full of double-crosses, explosive violence and riveting performances, Trespass doesn’t waste any time penetrating boundaries or getting under your skin.

The Big Wedding, with its all-star cast of Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton and Robin Williams, wrapped last month in Connecticut. Near the end of filming De Niro and Heigl graciously posed with Avi Lerner for the cover photo of The Hollywood Reporter for a Lerner profile story. The Big Wedding is written and directed by Justin Zakman.

In the romantic comedy Playing the Field Gerard Butler plays a retired world famous soccer star who tries to rebuild a relationship with his son and ex-wife by coaching his kid’s soccer team. While soccer is a hands-free sport, the mothers of the other kids can’t keep their hands off the Coach, which imperils his plan. Famed Italian director Gabriele Muccino helms the film and the prestigious cast including Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Judy Greer, with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Dennis Quaid.

The Paperboy recently completed production under the direction of Oscar® nominee Lee Daniels. Based on the novel by Peter Dexter of the same name, this steamy erotic thriller stars Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman.

John Luessenhop directs the blood-curdling horror Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D starring Alexandrea Daddario, Gunnar Hansen, Thom Barry, Shaun Sipos, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, Tania Raymonde. The film is a coproduction with Lionsgate.

Nicolas Cage is joined by Malin Ackerman, Danny Houston and Josh Lucas in Simon West’s high-voltage action film Medallion.

Director Dito Montiel’s Son of No One, an action crime thriller, stars Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Katie Holmes, Tracy Morgan, Ray Liotta, and Juliette Binoche.

Rounding out the Nu Image, Inc./Millennium Films being offered is the drama Trust, starring Clive Owen and Katherine Keener, and directed by David Schwimmer.
