Graphic novel contest as a lead up to the film’s street release on December 13

Graphic novel voting runs through November 14 at 12 AM EST

Cast your vote at www.Facebook.com/DetectiveDeeFilm

On the heels of the international success of the critically acclaimed wuxia epic, Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame and in celebration of the DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital/On Demand release on December 13, Independent Film and Distribution Company, Indomina Media, Inc., has created an exclusive contest featuring two notable graphic artists – Melissa DeJesus and Andy Belanger. The contest will run between November 1 to November 14 at 12 a.m. EST, where fans can visit www.Facebook.com/DetectiveDeeFilm to vote for their favorite comic. The winning artist’s graphic novel will be converted into a motion comic book as part of a bonus feature for the DVD and Blu-Ray release, as well as a grand cash prize.

The artists will face off in a battle between which comic book style works best – American or Manga style. DeJesus will represent the Manga Comic Style and Belanger will represent the North American Comic Style. The contest will give both artists the opportunity to create a digital graphic novel based on a Detective Dee treatment, which was provided by Indomina.

The artists completed their artwork between October 7 and October 28 (which includes pencils, inks and lettering) before voting started. Once the voting ends on November 14 at 12 a.m. EST, the winner will be announced on Facebook.

About The Artists:

Magnolia Takes U.S. rights to Fernando Meirelles’ 360

The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnolia Pictures recently announced they have acquired U.S. rights to 360, the sweeping new film from two acclaimed artists: director Fernando Meirelles (City of God, The Constant Gardener) and writer Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon). With a stellar international cast that includes Rachel Weisz, Anthony Hopkins, Jude Law, Ben Foster, Jamel Debbouze and Moritz Bleibtreu, 360 is a moving and exciting dramatic thriller that dazzlingly weaves together the stories of an array of people from disparate social backgrounds through their intersecting relationships.

360 was produced by Andrew Eaton and David Linde with Chris Hanley, Danny Krausz and Emanuel Michael. The European premiere for the film took place earlier this month when it received the prestigious honor of being chosen as the Opening Night Gala Film at the BFI55th London Film Festival.

A truly international film, 360 was shot on location in Vienna, Paris, London, Bratislava and Rio de Janeiro. Jude Law plays a travelling businessman who is contemplating a liaison with a prostitute; Rachel Weisz, a married woman who is breaking off a relationship with a younger man; Anthony Hopkins, a man searching for his missing daughter; Ben Foster, a sex offender recently released from prison.

“Fernando Meirelles and Peter Morgan are two exceptional talents that have crafted a unique and truly special picture,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “360 is a stunningly well made film, and a fantastic showcase for some of the most talented actors from around the world.”

Said producers Andrew Eaton and David Linde: “From the beginning, Eamonn and his team expressed an immense amount of commitment, both creative and financial, to the film. We’re thrilled that this truly global film has found its American home at Magnolia.”

Magnolia plans a theatrical release in 2012 in all major US markets, bolstered by a prominent film festival presence leading up to release. 360 will be distributed through Magnolia’s successful Ultra VOD program.

The deal was negotiated for Magnolia by SVP of Acquisitions Dori Begley and Head of Legal and Business Affairs Chris Matson, with UTA Independent Film Group for the filmmakers.

Cast and crew of Southland hit the streets of L.A. as production begins on fourth season of acclaimed TNT Drama Series

The cast and crew of Southland are back on the streets of Los Angeles this week as production begins on a fourth season of the acclaimed TNT drama series. The intensely personal, first-person look at cops and detectives on the beat stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie, who will be joined this season by special guest star Lucy Liu. TNT’s Southland is set to launch its new season Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

Redefining the police drama with its raw, authentic look at the lives and work of Los Angeles detectives and beat cops, Southland centers on four main characters: Officer John Cooper (Cudlitz), a seasoned cop who will have to prove himself again after recovering from surgery; Officer Ben Sherman (McKenzie), who still has much to learn after recently completing his training rotation; Detective Lydia Adams (King), who seems to take every case personally; and Sammy Bryant (Hatosy), a former detective who decided to go back to being a uniform cop after the traumatic death of his partner.

This season on Southland, Detective Adams will take on another new partner, this time a former Marine, while also facing a major upheaval in her personal life. Cooper will be back on the job after surgery to repair the back problems that led to his drug addiction. He will be teamed up with a new partner, Jessica Tang (Liu), who will bring her own set of emotional baggage to their patrol car. Cooper’s former trainee, Sherman, is now a full-fledged cop, partnered with Bryant, who continues to struggle with the trauma of the past.

Shot on location in the streets and neighborhoods of Los Angeles, Southland captures a realistic, natural environment where similar situations can and often do occur in real life. The series comes to TNT from Warner Bros. Television and Emmy®-winning producer John Wells (ER, The West Wing). Created by Emmy winner Ann Biderman (NYPD Blue, Public Enemies), the series is executive-produced by Emmy winners Christopher Chulack (ER, Third Watch) and Wells. Chulack is also a primary director of the series, while Andrew Stearn (Shameless, The West Wing) and Jonathan Lisco (The District) serve as co-executive producers.

To launch the start of production, cast members will provide Twitter updates using the hashtag #tntbackontheset.
