What's Hot at the Movies This Week
The Syfy Channel does a great job with new and interesting series. It seems when one ends, another favorite is starting up again. Last week they took this even further doing a crossover between Warehouse 13 and Eureka, with Neil Grayston’s character visiting Warehouse 13, and Allison Scagliotti’s character visiting Eureka. They got together in a conference call and discussed what could be next.
Neil think the crossover episodes between the two shows are going to help both shows in the long run, as he hopes it will bring more viewers to both, as it’s possible some fans of one may not have ever seen the other one. He thinks “having them in the same universe opens up so many different possibilities.” This is the only crossover planned between the two shows, but both Neil and Allison would readily welcome doing it all over again. Neil wants to get a bobblehead of his character Fargo, and have it in the background over at the Warehouse for future episodes.
It’s suggested that there could even be a spinoff with Neil and Allison’s characters, which Neil think would be “so rad.” Allison asks where they would film, and Neil suggests Brazil, but Allison thinks with Warehouse filming in Toronto, and Eureka filming in Vancouver, they could end up in Regina, Saskatchewan, but Neil hopes not, but notes he doesn’t want to “disparage the prairies.” He’d rather do it in Spain.
Warehouse 13 will have another guest star next week, Lindsay Wagner. Allison called working with her a dream, “not only because she’s a sci-fi legend, but because she’s really a fantastic actress.” She felt lucky to have the opportunity. She didn’t have a lot to do with her in this appearance, but Lindsay will be back again later in the season for another appearance, and Allison calls what they have together on that episode “meaty.” The experience was an actress’ dream to work with a veteran of the industry and genre. She’d like to also work with Betty White, saying she’s obsessed with her,.
Neil would like to work with Bruce Campbell of Burn Notice, but for now he has the guest appearances by Wil Wheaton to keep him going. He was always such a fan of Wil’s character in Star Trek: The Next Generation, watching it all the time when he was kid. He found he could really identify with him since they were both kids. Now he’ll be coming back to Eureka, doing a multi-episode arc, and Neil knows he’ll enjoy that as they’ve become great friends.
Looking at other series, including ones not on Syfy, Allison and Neil are asked if there were other shows they would like to guest on, and a reference is made about the “wonder twins” making a reappearance on Smallville. After Allison’s guest appearance on the show, she notes they left it open for them to return, and she’d love it, but hasn’t been approached. Other than that, she’d like to do a period piece. Neil notes he’s a big fan of True Blood, and also wouldn’t turn down an appearance on SGU. He’d also like to do Community and Modern Family, as he thinks doing comedy would be fun, and Allison suggests they do Community together as the Greendale graduates.
Allison also did a Destination Truth episode last season and calls the experience “summer camp on steroids,” because it was so different from doing a scripted show. She spent five days in Northern Chile for the appearance, where it was 80 degrees in December, and they were “tripping around abandoned mining towns” looking for ghosts in the middle of the night. She’d love to do it again, except maybe doing something more with water.
In fact, Allison like to do another crossover, and have Josh Gates on Warehouse 13, as she found him to be a really funny guy. Neil thought it would be fun to do it with him as a three-way crossover. It’s also suggested they could bring Haven in to a three-way with Warehouse 13 and Eureka, even though Haven is a bit darker, or an SGU crossover, because they could get together with Mr. Blue and Elyse.
Catch Warehouse 13 on Tuesday nights and Eureka on Friday nights, both on the Syfy Channel.
