| June 25, 2005

On June 28th, 2005, Warner Home Video will release the much-anticipated Jimi Hendrix Deluxe Edition DVD, loaded with extras and completely remastered and remixed to provide exceptional sound and picture quality. This is especially important since quality archival footage of this great musician’s work is so rare. Mr. ‘ mastery of his instrument, the electric guitar, has been highly praised by many other masters of the craft, and in this presentation his artwork and the soul of his music shine bright and strong.
This DVD includes some of Jimi Hendrix’ best performances, including footage of his dynamic and legendary appearances at Monterey, Woodstock (the original), and the Isle of Wight festivals. As a bonus on the new disc, Warner Home Video has included 75 minutes of additional features, including a never-before-seen performance of Stone Free and The Making of Dolly Dagger, with original Hendrix and the Experience engineer Eddie Kramer breaking down the mix, plus exclusive interviews from such guitar luminaries and acquaintances of Hendrix’ as Eric Clapton, Buddy Miles, Little Richard, Pete Townsend, Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, and others. Their discussions lend a new shading to this enigmatic musician’s fascinating life both on stage and behind the scenes.
The performances, the interviews, and snippets of archival footage combine to create a definitive documentary recording of the artist and the human being, a soaring spirit who died much too young on September 18, 1970 at a mere 28 years old. By that time he had set the music world on fire, and had changed the face of electric guitar music forever. His influence can be heard in every corner of American music today, and his legacy will be forever engrained in the sound of rock and roll.
