Cat-and-mouse thriller pits young mother against several masked assailants in what amounts to a locked-room hostage situation. Surprisingly good for what might have otherwise been a rather tedious film. Stars Melissa George and Oded Fehr both turn in good efforts here and help sustain the intrigue.
Awakening in a dark room after being knocked unconscious, a woman realizes that she’s been kidnapped and must frantically put her life back together in order to save the lives of her family in The Betrayed, making its DVD debut on June 30 from MGM Home Entertainment.
Betrayed stars Golden Globe® nominee* Melissa George (“In Treatment,” “Alias”) as Jamie Taylor, a young woman who regains consciousness after a bad accident and finds herself being held captive in a nondescript warehouse basement. A man looms overhead, telling her that if she wishes to ever see her little boy again, she must make the ultimate sacrifice – to kill her husband. The kidnappers insist that the husband is actually a brutal killer who has stolen millions from their mysterious crime syndicate.
Confused, focused on survival and the safety of her child, with her marriage upended and no idea whom she can trust, Jamie must attempt to piece together clues from her past life in an attempt to locate the stolen money and be reunited with her son before it’s too late.
As mentioned earlier, the DVD has a strong supporting cast that includes Oded Fehr (Resident Evil, “Sleeper Cell”) and Christian Campbell (“The Book of Daniel”).
The Betrayed single-disc DVD is being presented in widescreen format with English and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital sound, and English, Spanish & French subtitles.
