On March 6, 2012, Warner Bros. releases The Town Ultimate Collector’s Edition on Blu-Ray and DVD from Warner Home Video. For the occasion, Ben Affleck’s riveting crime drama about a Boston bank robbery gets a brand new ending. With The Town, writer-director Ben Affleck convinced audiences and the entire industry that the quality work shown in Gone Baby Gone was no fluke. In this Boston-tough heist thriller Affleck also stars as Doug MacRay, just another Boston-born and bred blue collar worker with the unusual lucrative side job of robbing the city’s banks with a regular crew of local boys. These Southies rejects include his psychotic buddy Jem, played to the hilt by Jeremy Renner. And when MacRay finds himself falling for robbery victim Rebecca Hall, he begins to question his criminal life. The Town is a fast-moving, fluid action experience given a concrete foundation with some gritty performances by Affleck, Renner, Hall, and Pete Postlethwaite as a particularly venal Irish florist and the boss of the robbers. The Town Ultimate Collector’s Edition will be offered as a Blu-Ray & DVD Combo Pack with UltraViolet Digital Copy. The quality in this release is superb - as good as any shown in theatres, and possibly better, depending upon your home system. This release offers added insights from the director, writer and actor Ben Affleck as part of a feature length documentary that details his personal journey with the film. The Blu-Ray includes a never-before-seen alternate ending. Additional extras include a personal filmmaking journal with photos and notes, a detailed map of Charlestown, memorabilia from the set, and a personal letter from Affleck. Also included are film prop reproductions such as mug shots, employee files and FBI report. The Town Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray Combo Pack contains both the theatrical version of the film and extended cut with alternate ending, as well as the following special features: Also included are all-new collectible memorabilia: Film Prop Reproductions: Own in on Blu-Ray on March 6th, 2012.
