Director John Boorman’s latest is an extremely creative film with a tour de force performance by Irish actor Brendan Gleeson. The film is thought-provoking and steers clear of running too deep into fantasy or suspense, ultimately giving us a deeply human drama.
Real estate developer Liam O’Leary (Brendan Gleeson) is at the apex of his career and is very near to seeing his dream of building a new international soccer stadium in Dublin. But the pressures of his job and social life are showing, and when O’Leary sees a menacing look-alike, his family thinks he’s lost his mind; but O’Leary knows that’s not the case. Worse yet, his doppelganger appears intent upon stealing away all that he has: his job, his reputation, his wife (Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall), and his sanity.
But his twin’s sudden appearance reveals new aspects of O’Leary’s life, even though everyone around him - including his best friend Father Andy (Ciaran Hinds) and his sister (Sinead Cusack) - seemed aware of forever. Faced with a new perspective of himself, and fighting to survive even though the only world he’s ever known is crashing down all around him, Liam must fight to uncover a shocking secret to his shadowy past before it destroys him.
On August 11th, Fox Home Entertainment will release The Tiger’s Tail on DVD.
Academy Award Nominee John Boorman (Hope & Glory, Deliverance, Point Blank) directs this complex psychological thriller set in Ireland.
Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges, The General, Gangs of New York), plays Liam O’Leary, who thinks he has it all until he crosses paths with his double who uncovers a truth about his past.
Gleeson is supported by a terrific and talented cast that includes Golden Globe winner Kim Cattrall (Best Supporting Actress, “Sex and the City”), Ciaran Hinds (Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day, Road To Perdition, There Will Be Blood), Sinéad Cusack (Eastern Promises, V For Vendetta, TV’s “Home Again”) and Seán McGinley (The Wind That Shakes The Barley, Gangs Of New York).
The Tiger’s Tail is one of the best films to be released this year. Don’t miss it.
