New York City-based City Lights Media Group announced today that they have hired industry veteran Steven Menkin to Vice President of Production. In his new post, Menkin will be charged with managing film production and bringing talent and projects to the fast growing production company, based in Manhattan.

“Joining City Lights Pictures presents an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of one of the fastest growing film and television companies in the entertainment industry,” said Steven Menkin. “It’s important for producers, writers, and directors to know that City Lights is a major new source for developing and financing feature films.”

Prior to joining City Lights, Menkin served as Vice President of film for TOKYOPOP, a leader in Anime and Manga distribution. Menkin has produced twelve feature films including the 20th Century Fox Release “Only The Strong,” the Venice Film Festival selection “The Sticky Fingers of Time,” and Good Machine’s “Love God,” executive produced by James Schamus and Ted Hope.

“We are very excited to bring on board such an accomplished and experienced film executive,” said City Lights Media Group CEO Danny Fisher. “Steve’s ability for finding, developing, and managing film projects have produced exceptional results and we are confident that he will play an important role in our growing company.”

City Lights Media Group was founded 21 years ago by brothers Danny, Jack and Joe Fisher. City Lights specializes in film, television, video and commercial production as well as running the largest Avid editing facility in New York. Just completed is John Waters’ “A Dirty Shame” for New Line Cinema and in pre-production is the supernatural thriller “Tamara,” written by “Final Destination” creator Jeffrey Reddick. City Lights Television just completed production on “Spread” for VH1 and is in production on two series— AMC’s “FilmFakers” premiering in October and “One Shot,” a reality series for Discovery Kids, airing in 2005 on NBC. In the pilot and development stage are “Whipped” for A&E, “Body Double,” for Court TV’s “Finding Stu” for Oxygen, and projects for Fit TV, Fuse, and Discovery.
