MTI Home Video, the leading independent home entertainment studio and supplier of horror films, will release Bedford Entertainment's horror film, Bog Creatures, on VHS and DVD March 4, 2003. Bog Creatures stars the "Queen of the B's" (B-rated movies that is) Debbie Rochon (Tromeo & Juliet, Fabulous Stains).

A group of college students are participating in an archeological dig in a search and recovery mission for the remains of the legendary medieval Bog People, the ruthless army of an evil Berserker Priestess. Having been defeated hundreds of years ago by a Noble, the Priestess and her followers were slain and buried in a mystical swamp whose waters are said to have magical powers of preservation.

As the group of college co-eds begin to unearth the remains of the Bog People, they soon come to realize that the Bog People are in fact unearthing themselves, now becoming an army of the undead as they ritualistically murder the students in order to continue their mission to enslave the world and raise the Berserker Priestess.

I sat on my comfortable sofa, while my kid and hubby were fast asleep in their beds, with my snack of microwaved s'mores (and yes you can microwave a s'more) and a frosted mug of Vanilla Coke. Let me first say that I do not break out those goodies for just any movie, especially a movie slated for video. But the possibilities of Bog Creatures had me giddy with excitement so I took a chance.

Now I don't know what makes a movie go straight to movies as opposed to the big screen. Don't know if it's the budget or the storyline or the actors hired (if you know, please let me know), but I do know that I thought Bog Creatures was good enough for the theatres. I think the storyline was a good one. I think it had potential to be a blockbuster movie if the storyline was enhanced upon a bit more. The actors played their roles nicely and there was a surprising twist to the ending. It was unexpected. Bog Creatures is definitely a worthwhile home viewing experience.

Bog Creatures will be available on DVD, sell through priced at $24.95 SRP and on VHS, priced for rental at $89.95. The VHS will be available in both English and Spanish Subtitles and a cost saving two-pack (VHS - $129.95 SRP). Special DVD features include a 40 minute "making of" documentary titled Art of the Guerilla, as well as chapter selections, interactive menus, and optional Spanish subtitles.

Veteran Indie Action Director J. Christian Ingvordsen (The Outfit, Blue Vengeance) will be making his first attempt at the horror genre with Bog Creatures. Also starring in the movie is T.J. Glenn (The Protector, The Last Prediction), and Jeffrey Howard (Niagara Niagara, Simple Men). Matthew How, J. Christian Ingvordsen, and Jeffrey Kollig wrote the screenplay.

Bog Creatures will be released March 4, 2003 with a prebook date of February 13, 2003. For more information, you can visit www.mtivideo.com.
